First "proper" bike

  • After many months of trying to justify buying some kind of fixie (at uni, everything is walking distance, such a tough life) I've got a new job which is perfect cycling distance away so straight away i hopped on ebay trying to find a nice deal.

Straight away talked myself out of every bike i saw, until for some unknown reason i bidded on one and ended up winning. In hindsight wish i'd done my home work as its a PEUGEOT and didnt realise they had their own sizings and after a couple of googles I'm pleased I'm not the only one in this mess.

Heres the progress probably spread over a month of pedalling around and getting new bits off ebay when my bank allows. Come from a BMX background so didn't have much experience with all this stuff.

BONUS QUESTION since my bb was english, what're the chances of my headset too being british standard? I did a quick measure and I hope i did measure 22.2mm... I was thinking worst comes to the worst i can probably sand it down anyway? Also the existing stem allowing for 25.4 or whatever riser bars? Any help is MASSIVELY appreciated

Another new wheel and some cheap paint:

Plan is hopefully some riser bars, if someone could help me out with my stem situation mentioned above, and a new seat.

  • Nice little project pal. have a look on Brick Lane Bikes if you want brand new parts or keep an eye out on the classifieds on here
