I scrolled down expecting to see that the sale was for charity...

Changed my mind on this after realising I have no room/time for it.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190838659586Seller tells me he checked with Mercian today who said it's a king of Mercia. No mudguard/rack eyelets though, so I don't see it myself.
Possible bargain though.
well tempted my size and all, anyone know what tubing it is?

Know there's a few admirers of the Dromarti range on here, currently sitting at £55.

They're quite awesome actually. common here in copenhagen. I've recently been thinking about restoreing a racing version with a modern group and wheels.
don't know if it would be possible to obtain a useful riding position though. -

'not being used as it is a tad too bike for me '
Try a shorter stem
Try an inline seatpost with saddle as far forward as possible -

ha ha. In my defence, I have sold a couple of things recently!
Definitely definitely my last purchase for a while (once Mercian confirm that it's one of theirs).
A rourke...

the typeset on the bb shell is totally different from any Mercian I've ever had.... and in the wrong direction.
Sorry but don't think it is one. Still looks nice though...

No idea, I'm out anyway!
I think the guy's full of shit, he claims it's a King of Mercia and that Mercian confirmed it, but it has no mudguard/rack eyes.
At £200 posted it was a reasonable price because the Milremo stem is worth a fair bit on its own, but he's bumped the price.
Glad I got out of it, to be honest!
Means I can get excited about this arriving (hopefully tomorrow, along with the Pug from on here) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321117302163?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2648

1988 Argos 753 25" frame with stuck seat post.
It is so popular one person is bidding against himself.

I don't think that's what the bid history represents. It means that bidder has put in a higher bid, say £75, and people keep boosting up the current bid by trying to bid against him. So far they have taken him up to £50. If they go over his max bid, then you will see the other bidder's name.

It's a tactic used to discourage other people bidding.
Usually it has the opposite affect. -

It's a tactic used to discourage other people bidding.
Usually it has the opposite affect.I'd be interested to see what the definitive best tactic is for buying cheapest/selling for highest.
I've seen stuff titled 'durace, duraace, etc' go for big prices, often well over the odds because people think they've got a bargain. A couple of years ago I got a 'durace' wheelset for £40, but that's the last one of those bargains I've seen.
It's an advanced selling tactic, but I reckon there's some evidence for it working (if done intentionally).Buying wise, I always snipe, but it's rare that I win stuff at the price I wanted. I only use eBay for bargains so will find something badly listed, put in what I consider a bargain price as a snipe and see what happens. Everyone uses those sites now, so there's not really any advantage, it's just paying what you are willing to without being tempted to try and 'win' something.
I know some people just put in a max price from the offset and if people outbid them then so be it.God, what a boring fucking post.
Sorry. -

Usually it has the opposite affect. What is? Putting in a high bid? I think it's silly. I think the best tactic is to bid your max with seconds to go, or use a sniper - as mentioned above ^. If you bid early, people can choose to beat you by a couple of quid if they want the item - keep bidding the min increment until they bust your max, then they have it. Or something like that.

If other people had bid then they would be recorded as bids on the bid history page.
If I see three highest bids all by the same person, I bid just under the top one. That is their max, so be it.
It is a red rag to me. -
• #46896
It is other people bidding, because otherwise the price wouldn't be going up surely.

• #46897
he could have recruited a mate and told him his max price.
not hard to engineer.
now, if only I could find a tasty Nickson CX frame...
