after being rattlecanned black, still maybe not what everyone would consider a beater/rat, but it gets alot of everyday use so is more of a workhorse.

i did too, but it started getting surface rust underneath the lacquer, i used a rust proofing primer underneath the black so hopefully this will now stay rust free.

Fair enough - mines a bit scary too - not sure what I'm going to do about it....

Yeah that's the bit that bothers me.

Interesting: sanded down some forks with the intent to lacquer them raw of paint them white and while I deciding they're developing an rusty patina which I like, so thought about leaving them for a bit.
