All the different ecosystems have their supporters and their detractors. Windows lacks apps, but they are coming on quite a bit, because of Nokia's innovations (their soon-to-come phones will have 20MP cameras). Sony's has turned around their fortunes completely with the waterproof Xperia Z, and now keep up-to-date with latest versions of Android. HTC have made a huge misstep with their camera technology, with their ultrapixels (only impressive in low-light conditions) but the HTC One is a fantastic phone otherwise. Sony have their i1/Honami due in a few months. And Samsung's Galaxy Note 2 has not disappointed anybody that has got it; nor has the Galaxy S4 (faster, smaller, but no stylus). The techie folks on here recommend the Nexus 4, if you don't want any bloatware on your phone.
