Bought a black 650c rubino earlier today, but had second thoughts and placed an order on the gumwall BLB for the rear. Before someone nergs me: I loathe BLB as much as the next person, but I've read they last quite a bit. Anyway, both should arrive next thursday, so I'll swap around and decide which look I prefer.

Sneeky update:
More pictures in my flickr set.
Stem is changed from a cinelli xa
(managed to strip the internal threads)
to an even more notorious for its unreliability
cinelli 1r, also had the chainset replaced for
a c-record. I suppose I'm done for now, might
hunt down some matching rims and a pista
chainset somewhere along the lines, but the
current build should do for the time being. -

What a really cool bike, love how you've fixed this up!!
Best colour too...I've got a 992 in same colour that I've posted in the French bike thread
-
• #108
Thanks man, your 992's lush, I'm looking for a matching Cyclocross futural 787 frame. ( http://deadrats.co.uk/gallery/sports-racing/dsc02808-1/ like this, the build is wank, though)

Great pics

Only thing I would change is remove the HSON stickers from the rear wheel... Otherwise A+++*** great work.

• #113
What adhesive did you use in the end?
I glued a Vitus frame once, but it wasn't successful.

Thanks!
^^TM, I intend to sell the rear wheel as i'm not really satisfied with the archetype, so probably won't remove the decals.
^ rodabod, what did you use? I used 3M DP-490, here's the datasheet:

Is that Vilnius?

Yunoliek?
I think it suits the build, just the decals give away it's er, heritage.
-
• #117
It looks great on it's own, however it's pitch black (as opposed to the hard anodized front) and stands out from the rest of the build. It's not noticeable in the pics, though. Anyway, I hope black tires will tone it down a bit as it really triggers my OCD. As for the period correctness, heritage and so forth, bearing in mind that the build is a mess those things don't bother me at all if they work visually together, which isn't the case with the archetype.
It would be ace if I could just put it in a tanning booth to fade the ano a bit, however I suppose the results would be unpredictable.

I'm shit at propping bikes.:(

Great pics and the bike is sexy. Very clean and looks like it's moving at high speed, even when it's stationary :p

http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/mediawebserver?66666UuZjcFSLXTtoXfc5Xs6EVuQEcuZgVs6EVs6E666666--DP420. I think your joins are mainly in compression, whereas mine was a seat tube to BB shell joint which I mashed into (two) pieces.
Great work bringing a frame like that back to life.
-
• #122
Tough luck, how did you prep the joint before bonding?
Is that Vilnius?
Sorry, somehow missed it.Correct, Sir, I live in Vilnius. Have you visited it?

Thanks, It does feel very fast and responsive, I just wish I could do it justice.:D
#allthegearnoideaI've sent an email containing the pictures to the person I've bought the frame from and in her response she vaguely mentioned she has a cinelli with a cracked downtube, this might get interesting...

incredible build, i find myself returning to this thread for the pictures.
what tire do you have on the front wheel? back one is BLB if I'm not mistaken..
-
• #124
Thanks, the front was (switched to black tyres) a NOS vredestein fortezza, they don't make them in gumwall flavour anymore.

Hallo, I may be selling a 25.0 Flite Titanium Seatpost shortly if it would be of any interest to you?
^ +1 for gummy bears.
