Hi Alex,
I can't PM you because I've only just joined the forum. I'd be interested in coming to see the Carlton. I'm based in Walthamstow so Essex is not too far. Not sure what the etiquette on the forum is as far as asking people for addresses etc. If you're still looking to sell the bike perhaps you could PM me your address?

Both bikes sold.
Thanks everyone!
Hi everyone,
I've got 2 bikes for sale. I am based in Essex and do not have much time to pack the to post at the moment, but I can drop them both at Canary Wharf or Liverpool Street/ Brick Lane area for £15 (to cover the petrol costs) on a Saturday or Sunday morning/mid day ideally.
First one up is a japanese Yagami, made from Araya tubing which I converted to fixed. Nothing fancy but it does the job.
Originally it had a fork for 27" wheels which I changed for one for 700c with closer clearance. It does have a slight sloping geometry due to that, but this does not affect riding. I can include the original forks if somebody want them.
It has some scratches and chips but no cracks or dents.
Spec
Frame size is 54cm CTT seat tube and 55cm CTC top tube.
It has got a no name headset.
The stem is a Japanese Win and the bars are ITM swept back/risers in good condition with cork bar tape.
The brake is a Dia Compe BRS 101 caliper in good condition, Clarks brake pads with loads of life left in them. Tektro (RL720 model I think) lever.
The BB is a brand new Stronglight sealed unit
Pedals are Mongoose platform. Used and with scuffs but spin freely.
Chainset is a Shimano 600 tricolour 170mm 53T ring (will include a 39T as well). Arms have scartches and toe strap rub.
I had the wheels from new and have seen little use. Alex DA22 rims with loads of life left on braking surface (safety line still present). Hubs are sealed, double fixed and both threads are fine. Both wheels are 95% true. 17T sprocket for 3/32" chain. Chain is a Sedis.
The tyres are Michelin Dynamic 700x23. Used but plenty of life left.
The saddle is a Selle Italia Turbomatic. In useable condition. It has a scuff on the left hand side and a small cut.
Just a chrome seat pin and a clamp.
I'd like £140 for this one please, but do let me know if I'm way off. SOLD!!
Second one is a 1960's Carlton?
Lugs and frame number H9718 stamped on left dropouts suggests this is a Carlton but the holes for the headbadge positioned vertically might not suggest this.
The frame has been powder coated locally in matt light grey. It has a few imperfections around the BB area and on the toptube under the paint but this is hardly noticeable. A small mark on the paint on downtube.
The frame has no cracks or dents.
It looks like the cable guide on BB shell is a later addition but works a treat.
Spec
56cm CTT seatube and 56cm CTC top tube. Cyclo dropouts.
TDC headset, SR stem stamped Raleigh and generic chrome bars which are cm wide. Generic (as in generic, not the brand) white grips.
The brakes are Dia Compe with Clarks pads and the levers are Altenburger. All inners and outer cables are new.
Sealed no name BB unit, Suntour edge chainset 170mm with 52T ring. Chainring bolts are double ones with washers so can be converted to double if wanted with the 42T ring I will be including.
Huret gear lever and Suntour Seven rear derailleur. 5 speed block (Atom I think). Chain is a brand new KMC.
Both hubs have been recently serviced. Both spin well, rear one smoother than the front one. Front one is a Maillard, rear is a Normandy but exactly the same pattern. Rims are no name 36H but look like Weinmanns. Alpina butted spokes. Tyres are brand new Vittoria Zaffiro 700x28. Wheels are 90% true I would say. Rear could be re dish for singlespeed if wanted.
Saddle is a italian Selle, very similar in shape to a Flite.
No pedals are included with this one but might be able to throw a pair of clipless Shimano if I manage to find them.
I'd like £190 please>now £185>now £180>[B]£160 SOLD
Please let me know if you need more pictures and I can email them.
Thanks for looking, Alex.
