  • Nibs only lost 11 secs to Wiggins. Pretty impressive.

  • yep, 4th

  • Weird. I don't know if I'm impressed or suspicious.

Wiggins can still do this. To the mountains!!!

  • The second half of the TT shows just how much time the mechanical cost. That and Wiggins descending like my mum

  • Because a forrun did well? They are all cheats aren't they?

Goes to show how foolish mid TT predictions can make you look.

Also, gives Wiggins the opportunity to turn consensus on its head and show whether he can crack others in high mountains. Lets not forgot he took time off Nibali in mountains at the tour last year.

  • Ferrari links though. Hope he's clean, I like Nibbles

    suspicious of what, exactly?

Wiggo clearly not on form in this TT, only logical all of the competition gets closer

well done for Stef Clement (best Dutchie in TT), Wilco Kelderman (white jersey) and Gesink (3rd now in GC)

  • Hesjedal looks like he'll be the big loser today

Everyone and their mother expected Wiggins to take minutes out of the other contenders toady. Ryder would have gladly accepted being 40 odd seconds down on him. Make no mistake Wiggins is the big loser.

Mechanical and poor descending cost Wiggins time, looked very strong in the second part, put forty seconds into Dowsett

  • yes I saw that Jimmy ;-)

  • Should be some exciting racing with the GC standings as they are.

  • Worth saying again that Wiggins took time off everyone but Froome in the TDF mountains last year. Not sure what form book has Hesjedal and Nibali ahead of Wiggins in the mountains.

  • Henao in podium position if he didn't wait yesterday?

Hesjedal won last year by limiting loses in the mountains and beating Rodriguez in the final TT, he needed a better time today than he got.

The one that's showed Nibali riding like a monster all year while Wiggin's has done.......well nothing. Don't know where they're getting Hesjedal thing from though.

  • yes I saw that Jimmy ;-)

So his form ain't that bad. It's his head that's the problem

True. Don't see him taking anything off Wiggin's from here on in.

  • ^^ yes OK, in my book that's part of the form, can't have only half of it

  • I think Sky with 3 riders in the top 10 are a long way from finished-their squad still has a depth and quality that is above the rest.

Of course one crash and everything can be switched around but as it stands His Nibs is looking very comfy.

Very true. Nibali very comfortable but obviously anything can happen. If it was a stomach bug Wiggins had and not being off form on the climbs then today certainly bodes well for him. Evan's in good place too although he is prone to cracking when things speed up on the mountains.

  • Nibali - "The first half of that course was almost designed for me with so many corners"

Well yes, it probably was ;)

    Fairy muff, good point

  • It's still all about week 3 & it'll be interesting to see how Nibali defends the jersey. 1 poor tactical decision is all it takes, hopefully Wiggins will be able to capitalise if it happens.

Sets it up very nicely doesn't it? Already more tension in the race than the entire of the TdF last year

  • for those of you only watching the giro for Wiggins, you can have your afternoons back.

That's a bold statement Andy. I'd say the race is as good as over already.

Sorry, by 'the race is over' I meant 'giro di'Italia 2013 is over'.

Sky have removed coverage now Wiggins is out of contention
