  • Very tempted, good attitude, haz a bump

  • Can you not make it out of 531 I can afford that.

  • Bump. Good to see new life given to an old British firm.

Given your OP though, perhaps it should be "Talbot & Daughters"? Save some money on childcare? ;)

  • I can make out of any tubing you want, just pm me, or better yet come down and have a chat.
In respect to Talbot and daughters, watch out for the Talbot balance bike, should be ready in the next week or so.
Website is semi-live, having some slide show issues. Once these are sorted there should be some more/better photo's up.

  • Above is actually a custom geometry frame built with spirit, but is very similar to what we have been doing with the 853 bikes, just with a very tight rear end, and some front triangle tweaks.

  • Website now live - www.talbotframeworks.co.uk

  • Fantastic looking frame &great thread , I'll pop in when I'm in London next :)

  • Would be great to see you MRI, although due to my epilepsy and claustrophobia, I think I would prefer to call you something else, those three letters make me feel physically sick whenever I see them!

  • Oh snap! That red framed build is something else. Proof that Campag doesn't always look ugly.

Love the frame and the photograph,

    good luck with the framebuilding/selling!

Gaspipe is about all I can afford at the minute!
The frames you've posted look gorgeous. Best of luck with the business!

  • Congrats on getting your thing going, coldharbour.

Question about geometry: What is the wisdom behind stays/wishbone meeting the seat tube below the seat collar, rather than in at the collar? 'Tokyo Bikes' look like this.

  • Have you built any touring/ audax frames?

  • Skully, other than aesthetics, the theory behind the rear end is thus:
Large, oversized, high quality chainstays to keep it laterally stiff when your cranking it out of the saddle. The skinny seat stays and wishbone allow for vertical compliance and a more comfortable ride. The positioning of the stays or wishbone connector allow you to increase or decrease stiffness according to the rider, which is fine, as long as they join the tube at a butted section.
GeorgeG, I have built a few audax frames, although not under the Talbot branding. If you are interested in one, I can easily use some of the drawings I had from these frames and include it in the offer.
As can be seen from the above, I mentioned both lateral stiffness AND vertical compliance in a sentence, and alluded to the fact I can draw. This proves my credentials as a frame builder and gives me the right to ask for lots of money from you for a collection of ferrous tubes.

I remember seeing a video of Rob English being dubious about this. Looks very nice though.

    I lol'd

  • Without wanting to sound like a used car salesman, we have been offered the groupset, wheels and finishing kit from an unsellable build quite cheaply, so for a limited time only (sigh) we can offer:
    853 Talbot frameworks frame
    Columbus minimalist fork
    Full athena 11 speed groupset
    Campagnolo scirroco wheelset
    Full 3T finishing kit
    Schwalbe ultremo zx tyres
For the fabulous price of £2,250

Again I apologize for this, but there is a limited amount of these kits, so when they are gone etc etc... When I found out that they've run out, I will delete this post, to avoid any confusion or disappointment.

  • Does the 853 frame price inc forks?

    Thanks

  • No it doesn't, but we can supply forks from most manufacturers, or make you some in steel. Either can be colour matched.

  • How much for a tandem frame? Di2 and disc brakes, naturally.

  • I'll swap it for your 850, I seem to be having oil seal problems atm...

  • coldharbour
Ta, interesting. So is this a house preference or just what you've ended up making?

Ever experimented with the other way 'round, i.e. dropped top tube/fast back high seat stay interface - like those old horizontal TT lo-pro frames you sometimes see?

RMS? When was the PCV last looked at?

    Serious about tandem enquiry btw
