I really can't see how these stupid hi-viz vests do not constitute impersonating a police officer, that is clearly the intent of anyone wearing one.
Legal position aside the idea of hoodwinking drivers into behaving considerately is surely very short sighted. What are the deceived motorists going to think when they tumble to the deception? Will it be "clever cyclists, I have learnt a valuable lesson and shall afford them the time and space they need from now on" or "those fuckers tricked me"?
Sharing the road space requires all users to show mutual respect, those vests do not demonstrate any respect for fellow road users.
