Having spent a long time sourcing this frame last year, I've very reluctantly decided I have to sell the bike as it is just that bit too small for me and I need the money to fund a pair of track racing wheels - oh well, at least the poor old bike has had a nice quiet winter hanging in my loft, not getting wet and cold, so it shouldn't be feeling too unloved!!
I bought the frame last year for £550 from this forum and it was worth every penny of that. It has been refinished in a gorgeous metallic coppery bronze colour (before I bought it) and was literally just like new. Since building it, I've probably ridden it about 20 times - it really is a special ride and I believe is made from a combination of 531 and SLX tubing. Masi was (and probably still is!) one of the very best of the best Italian makers and this frame really shows that in both beauty and riding.
I can only find one very small chip near the rear dropout.
I had the wheels custom built for me - they are Dura Ace hubs with Ambrosio Nemesis "La Reine du Nord" tubular rims, DT Swiss Revolution spokes and gold nipples. The front is radially laced, the rear is cross laced on the drive side and radially on the non-drive side. Again, these wheels have only been ridden about 20 times and are beautiful to ride and spin for ever!
I fitted a modern Ultegra 6600 groupset with a 53/39 chainset and 11-28 cassette. I also have the original Campag Masi pantographed downtube shifters (see http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=sm5xtt&s=5 for a picture of them on the frame) which are included in the sale.
Other details - Vittoria tubulars in great condition, Campag Record headset, 3TTT stem and 3TTT ErgoPower Due handlebars, Shimano 600 aero seatpost and Rolls saddle..
The frame measure 56 cm centre to top of seat tube and 56 cm centre to centre top tube.
I would prefer to sell the complete bike, but if someone wants to buy the frame, I will sell that and then sell the wheels and (probably!) the groupset separately. I won't sell either the wheels or the groupset etc separately before selling the frame.
I would like £860 for the complete bike, or £450 for the frame, £220 for the wheels (with tubs and a spare new tub), £180 for the groupset and then I'll have to think about stem, seatpost, saddle and handlebars!
I live in North Holmwood, Dorking and you are most welcome to come and have a leer - alternatively, I could meet a serious buyer at Herne Hill on Sunday mornings or meet halfway in somewhere like New Malden, Streatham etc...
Here's a picture of the complete bike (pedals not included in sale)...
