  • I have 3...

    2 x Globe Roll 2's ...and a tat Viking!

I orig got a Globe...then decided to get a beater (the Viking) for the commute. Made it look alright (IMO) with leather saddle and leather wrapped bulhorns - I put a front rack on so it looked a bit like a butchers bike and it fit a bag on it alright too!

But pretty much EVERY component failed on the Viking (as you would expect) but this at least gave me the opportunity to ‘fix my own bike up’ something I hadn’t done since I was in my teens! Ultimately I replaced everything down to the frame and wheels...and when a rim let go on my way to work last week I decided enough was enough and got another Globe 2 (mega discounted) as I knew I liked the bike already! This is now going to be my project and is currently at a metal finishers having the chipped/scratched frame sorted - this was the reason I got it cheap!

Was that too boring? Sorry if so...

Easy to fix. Did you write that in an external editor? It happens sometimes. If you c&p it into a plain text editor before pasting it into a forum reply box, the formatting usually gets stripped out.

  • Jingle Jangle, DMC zone and dicki - you have problems

  • Great post Jingle Jangle. Three points:

    1. You need to find an analyst who understands the need to retain them all.

    2. I can point my wife to your posting and say 'See, I have an incredibly small number of bikes, hardly worth mentioning'.

    3. I like your Trevor Jarvis Flying Gate in the line up. I'm looking for one with a 62/64cm frame, preferably coming with a justifiable reason to own one as I have no real need to have one, I'd just like to have one - this, apparently, isn't good enough.

I did indeed...clearly a nooob error! I'm taking another risk here in trying to 'quote' your reply in this post - hope it works...not too keen on looking a fool!

... and thanks for the fix Oliver!

    1. The current plan is to remove, to make space, and re-stock.

    2. Mrs JJ is a very understanding woman - but what she spends on shoes and handbags puts by bike addiction to shame.

    3. My Flying Gate is surprisingly practical - in fact it is my main ride for the daily commute.

    Cheers

    One bike does plenty! XD

I can see removing and making space. Re-stocking is going to be tough given the quality of the list you already have.

Mrs JJ believes in a level playing field. I once got caught in the crossfire of an argument between a friend and his wife over his desire to increase his collection to two bikes; she felt this excessive as he only had one rear end, therefore one bike. I pointed out she had dozens of shoes but only had two feet. As my friend then made an unusual gurgling noise and went a funny colour, I'm not sure my observation helped.

The Flying Gate sounds better and better!

  • Sunday custom bmx
Random archie wilkinson 24" cycle speedway bike

Heavy as fuck Saxon winter bike
Volume cutter V4 beater, curb hopper, strong rig
    Volume cutter v5 FGFS
    Unidentifiable track bike

So the total stands at 8 - more than i thought! Not including stacks of random frames/wheels/crap in the rafters of my garage..

  • Ah, recently moved to NZ so sold almost everything.

    Currently:
1990ish Haro Impulse Comp mountain bike, needs restoration
1980s F.W. Evans touring frame and pair of Shimano Santé 36h hubs stored in my parents' attic
Rapha bibs and early 90s Cannondale jersey with funny native american cartoon animals on it

    And sadly, that's it.
