  • might be along if up early enough, perhaps en route to SPIN (volunteering at the LCC stall),,

  • I'm in tomorrow - emailed Fran and she's hopefully bringing the loaner down at 10. Would someone be able to bring the necessary tools to help me switch the brake over? That would be awesome. I think a bbq is a great idea. Weather looks ok, not as nice as today though :( Io - I had a dream last night about us naming our polo team - we came up with something so good BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT IT WAS.

hey i can bring some hex keys and an adjustable spanner -hopefully these should do for swapping the brake. Now, you have to remember the name :-)

  • It should be a simple swap, just flip the lever around and it will work.

  • no overground this morning so might take me a bit longer to get there

  • Naomi and Simon have messaged, saying they are coming too :-)
see you later, in need of some food, and then heading there

  • (I'll bring doughnuts)

  • Ah - great news that we'll be 6. Now we must fiercely defend the court from basketball ladies

  • future don't go to lock 7 there pricks

  • I should elaborate more they just turned round and informed me that after looking at the books they don't need me any more, so good luck finding a new job. this also means i cant do your bike unless i can find a workshop to use.

  • what do you need done with your bike future?

  • i bent the rear wheel so it needs a new one but its 27inch and i think she wants to turn it into more of a commuter

  • Ah Felix that's bullshit - I'm so sorry. Also, please don't worry about my bike - it was an old ghost anyway and I'm in no rush to sort it out. I definitely don't hold you responsible in any way! Are you coming down on Tuesday? I have a brand new exciting left handed polo tank for you to have a go on if so..

hey Felix & Future, Bikeworks (just down Cambridge Heath Road) does a "fix your own bike" on Thursdays from 5pm to 8pm - basically it is £5 per hour to rent a workstand and use all tools - i went there to build my bike cos i needed tools for my headset.... so it is a good option if you are needing to build a bike....

Felix, im sorry about the job... :( we did pop round to see you ; hope you find something quickly (that it is not on saturday so you can play with us! :) )

  • if its just that you just need to replace a rear wheel, what tools do you need? a 15mm spanner? or do you want to keep the hub and lace it to a new rim? sorry its a bit unclear from your post felix.

  • Any other beginners coming to Newington today?

  • thanks for the games tonight! nice to meet some new faces, hope to see more of you over the summer.

  • Thank YOU! Had a great time yesterday :) so.... Who is up for a Saturday session at London Fields? Come on :)

  • Io, do you think there would be enough interest for a (casual) beginners tourney at Newington over the summer?

  • Yeah, thanks Kevin, last night was so great.

re the tournament idea, I'm not sure if there are really enough regular beginners yet to get that going... Might be worth working on recruiting some new keen faces and properly establishing Tuesday beginners nights first? What do you think?

On another note, does anyone have a spare mallet kicking about for Richard?

I'm in on Saturday, would be cool to get 6

  • One of 'my' mallets is a spare one for beginners anyways...

Yeah makes sense. Poor old Cowhen is still paranoid about mashing himself up again but hopefully soon he'll be back to push beginners more.

Might wait to do it again until after the Open, like last year's one at Westway.

  • ^ And it might not happen at all due to other commitments on my part (but of course anyone else is welcome to run with it...)

  • I won't be able to beginners till after xzams, and even then I'll only be around irregularly. But I would love to see the courts at Herne Hill used for beginners sessions, I think it would be the perfect way to get more people into it. If we manage to get boards and stuff for HH before the summer is out I'll definitely help with running that, at least up until October.

well, to my knowledge there are potentially 9 beginners that come to the east/south east sessions. Are there any from West? Also it may be good to see if there are any beginners outside London willing to come down? I know Ben was also thinking of a beginners' tourney....ben?

  • Yep, was thinking of it in London Fields in July.
