  • As Luca mentioned, Cambridge will talk about this on Sunday and come back with an answer on how to allocate the wildcard spots. My personal opinon is to do the following:

Use the tournament to create a ranked list of all teams in the UK (that are able to attend)

Give the top x spots to the top x teams.

If one of the qualified teams cannot make it, the next team down the list gets the spot. A deadline will be set for teams to commit/not commit to going to the Euros.

As for the wildcard spots, my feeling is that there won't be a huge demand for these spots when it finally comes down to it, and we can sort out the alloc. while keeping everyone happy. Also, I disagree that a wildcard should use a ranked system, its not really a wildcard then is it?

The overall goal of the qualifiers is to send the best teams in the UK to the Euros in the fairest way possible. There are many factors to 'fair'. Most sports take the whole season to rank the teams in the league, we are trying to do it in one day. This could be seen as unfair (injuries/attendance can affect result).

Anyways, I don't see much change to what has been discussed already. The default selection process for the UK wildcard teams should be to use the qualifier tournament results. But for special cases, there could be allocations made subject to a discussion/vote by the parties affected and the UK community.
