I don't at the mo Rob, but seeing that, ^ I would defo, I like that image, gutted you've claimed it lol
i was meant to be going for it today but the artist changed my mind because hes a good artist but in training and he said that he would do it free hand but i asked him to trace the image bacause i dont want a shitty free hand that looks out of proportion so im not too sure. i was having it done like exactly but having 'fixed gear' written instead.

Mandala tattoos in the 2010s = tribal tattoos in the 90s. Don't do it kids.
Not so sure about it being a 90's/2010's thing but hey if that's what you feel
I feel that way a bit about people who get swastikas tattooed on them with the story about what they used to mean.
Yes thats what they meant, but in this part of the world, Western Europe, where we live, they mean something else.
Soz, but not that bothered if peeps know or ask me the back story, to swastikas I have lots of Sayagata, tattooed about my person & as a mixed race guy, I do get some odd looks if peeps look close enough at my tats, lol, but hey I got the design coz I like it, no other reason
I like my tattoos because I like the imagery, no bullshit back story needed. If you're getting tattooed to be fashionable then that's a hard thing to keep up with and you'll probably end up with a right mish mash of styles. If you have them and you're happy with them then fair enough, no need to be precious about it I reckon.
Too True Caz too true

There was a chap who worked in the Monmouth coffee place on Borough Market who had a predominantly green fish-scale sleeve, looked awesome and I always thought that that (like Diggers suit) neatly sidestepped the "everyone got this in [period X]" aspect of tattooing.
There are lots of designs if you have a think about it, you can have that have that timeless quality to them, I once saw a guy with a mish mash of transformers as a sleeve and imaged the poor guy 40yrs from now trying to explain who optimus prime & Megatron are,

think your right to have gone with the stencil, as its an object with such hard lines, at least a decent stencil will hopefully ensure you get that clean edge look, over a free hand job, although that does really depend on the artists skills as well

@fiestarob: i know a guy in berlin with a "fixed gear" tattoo on his neck, done a few weeks after he was into fixed cycling. a few weeks later he changed to freewheel bikes. just do not something stupid/childish.

By which I mean to say, please go create a "Tattoo advice for morons and children" thread. Feel free, in there, to assume that anybody who posts is a feckless child who needs to be told "Now, did you think this through?". And keep it there. The rest of us can avoid it in the same way we ignore the helmet thread.
But when somebody comes here to talk about their combined interest in fixed gear (which we all think is awesome by default) and tattoos (which we all think are awesome apart from the trolls), please show them some respect, at least as your starting position. Me, I'm going to assume that even if he later develops an exclusive passion for recumbent unicycles, he's going to remember his fixed period with some fondness and the tattoo will be a memento.

Something I thought was important getting mine was that it was close to what it looks like in the steel... it's just about the right size, the one on that guys forearm looks too big for a 15, and the teeth don't look realistic.

I agree totally, has to be accurate to the real thing as poss, loving yr 13t, perfect size, colour, etc, I may try and give mine some spin, by turning the cog slightly, enough to give it some depth, but still see any detail on the cog itself,

Heh. If I hadn't fucked my shoulder, I'd have an upper sleeve healing up nicely by now. As it is, the back piece that was supposed to complement it will be going on first, end of this month. All super awesome, obv.
When I finally get the shoulder done, seriously, will be a significant event for me. As in, no longer hurts too much for the needle and fuck you fate it didn't need surgery.

Imagine most will have seen this, one of my favourite tattoos ever. I'm slowly trying to put money away to get my back done, probably with Xam, unlikely to be before next year though.
