Reynolds makes a tubing specifically for him. I think it's even called "Reynolds Kirk Proprietary Tubing" or something like that. I believe there may also be some Reynolds 953 and True Temper S3 in there. He also uses Sachs and Llewellyn lugs.

Everything's done. Any ideas for paint?

Looks exquisite. Leave it raw?
I'd like to see unpainted forks at least. -

I was also thinking about a Kirk Precision when i was opening this thread :)

I am extremely tempted to have them clear coat it and leave it raw. It's torture deciding on paint.

I´m also in contact with Dave building a bike for me. I asked him to leave the frame raw with clear paint. But he can´t do it, because he thinks that clear paint will not protect the steel...
What have you done? -

So its a jk special?
I had one of those. Its a lovely bike! Mine unfortunetly ended up abit stiff for me. Was built for a heavier rider.
He makes lovely bikes!
Id go with paint, jb makes great paint jobs! Gonna be super nice even tho i understand the agony of deciding scheme and colours etc. His Lotus in the background has a pretty sweet orange and i dig orange bikes!

Thanks, gents! I hope the parts I picked look good on the frame. I'll post once I get it all together.

What a great paintjob and a lovely bike!
What parts are u going with?
-

Looks gorgeous - is the paint job deliberately pick up the german/Belgium flag?
-

I'm using the campy chorus 11 group off my previous bike and various other parts I've acquired over the last couple of years:
Fizik Cyrano post
Ritchey WCS stem
H+Son TB14 rims with White Industries T11 hubs
Whisky brand cagesI have some Easton bars that I'm going to try.
As for the paint, I asked for a near-black shade of blue with muted yellow, red and grey highlights in the Eddy Merckx style. This is his interpretation. I never made the flag connection!

Lovely, but isn't the rider's name supposed to be the one on the top tube?
-
• #24
That's a valid point, Mr. B. I'd rather have Dave's signature on the bike. I've been a fan for a while and I'm proud to have one of his bikes. He built some of the 7-11 team bikes in the eighties and he has an interesting approach to geometry and design. My name would shame the bike a bit.

Dont know if its was your choice or not to not go with the "wrench logo" he uses on the jks. Or perhaps he doesent anymore? Either way i dident like it much so this is much better!
Dave Kirk is building me a bike. Thought I'd post some pictures.
I haven't decided on paint yet. I'm thinking about doing a black / blue and some pink.
