Never shot a gun but I've played loads of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare so I'm pretty confident I could handle a firearm if push came to shove.

Question to you not-americans: Have you shot guns before? Do you get it that at minimum this girl is getting a black eye (I mean you can kind of tell from the picture)?

CSB: I have done this to myself the first time I shot a rifle. The butt of the gun was on my shoulder, but my shoulder wasn't expecting how gnar the kickback would be. A kid I knew held a pistol grip double barrel shotgun up to his face to aim it. When he shot it knocked out his front teeth.

I can unfortunately painfully second that - the first time I shot a semi automatic pistol I didn't realise that the slide would come back quite far and quite fast. I still have the scar on my thumb.

During TA training years ago I mistakenly threw a grenade into a room with my section in (which I was leading). Fortunately my grenade was only a pine cone as I'd used all my flash-bangs. They didn't let me lead the section after that. /CSB

I made the mistake of not butting an AK47 right into my shoulder before firing. Hurt like fuck.
Amusingly, a friend also tried firing a .44 Magnum with one hand and promptly punched himself in the face with the recoil.
