It is with a heavy heart and sad eyes that I post this advert. I am selling my beloved Raleigh Banana. I purchased this frame "on here" from one of the forum's OGs from IOM.
This beautiful addition to my stable has sadly become one bike too many, and, unfortunately I am going to have to sell it.
It has served me well, propelling me to at least two Strava KOMs.
It may be the case that my sweat, blood, tears, dead skin, and noxious exhaust fumes have somehow bonded with the exotic steel of this frame and created an impenetrable protective force field. However, I would not like to state that as fact.
Currently available in the stunning yellow and black livery of Team Banana, this frame may lend itself to a stunning application of new clothes via powdercoating.
This superior workhorse is, as yet, unphotographed and has:
a shimano un54 BB fitted (and forgotten about) on purchase
a stronglight 1 inch threaded headset (black) fitted sometime last year
an original sakae SR seatpost
a 90 mm system ex quill stem fitted new on purchase
risers
mudguards
This valiant steed is powered by
one pair of shimano 600 tricolor cranks (165mm length (i think)) (shimano spds not available)
My braking is provided by
one dirty harry brake lever (black/gold)
(an additional new and unfitted dirty harry brake lever (black/gold) is available on request and for the cheap price of £5)
Shimano 105 caliper
My (pert) bottom rests upon a saddle that is not for sale. There is a pannier rack that is not available for sale
The wheels were bought, "off here", for £80. They've been perfectly fine (if a little grubby) but the rear needs a spoke replacing.
And what would be the price I hear you ask? (I don't, it's a rhetorical flourish designed to add "something" to the advert, but let's go with this eh?).
Well.
If you bought the whole thing (minus rack and saddle) I'd happily accept: £100
So you'd get :
A functional, aesthetically challenging, 18-23 steel frame from Nottingham's finest bike factory
A functioning BB
A functioning headset
Some cranks (with a 42 chainring) (but no pedals)
A seat post (but no saddle)
A stem (with risers and grips and a bell)
A brake lever
A brake caliper
A set of mudguards already fitted
No pannier rack
Wheels (16t cog on there atm, and possibly a freewheel there NB: you will need tyres and tubes)
A chain (which might need replacing in the next 6 months)
In addition to this wonderful bike, I've also got some other shed clearance going on. For the chance to buy Ultegra rear mechs, mismatched 9 speed shifters, 9 speed cassettes, 8 speed cassettes
