I wanted this frame but didn't have the funds at the time.
I'm looking to do my own mercian build very soon (as soon as I find a frame) so i'll be watching this project for interest and inspiration.
Sounds good so far. Good luck with the build.
Oh and my friend rode Hackney to Harwich fixed last summer, as we were riding to Amsterdam. It's about 90 miles I think, and his knee was absolutely battered the next day. I was riding gears and had a lovely holiday ;)
