Can I change my suggestion ^

Ive been looking at the gold stars for a while now, and coming to the end of this build, im far from rolling in dough, the vittoria corsa evo cx are going to have to make do for the moment, i actually think they look pretty good, and the yellow looks great against the frame (there's actually yellow inserts on the frame) - they're hardly a budget tyre either.
I know its a bit anti-climatic but i really cant afford anything near $538 for a pair of tyres and whereas i can justify spending 000's on a groupset, which will last and last and with care and attention still look mint in years to come, all it takes it one fucking piece of glass and theres $269 down the shitter and another $269 needed for a replacement tub.
Im going to tape up the rims and bed the tape in using the vittoria tubs this evening, so il post a few photos of what it looks like before the backing's removed and they're stuck tight.
Im open to alternatives to the vittoria's but i have very little capital left to allocate to this project now and whereas im looking for excuses, reasons and possibilities to use any number of other tyres, i just cant see the common sense in it.
Obviously, being a perfectionist theres the "rightness" of having the jap rubber on there, and the right period image of gumwalls, but ultimately, i wanna ride this fucking bike, and i dont want to wait any longer!!!
I would really welcome any comments which might be relevent to persuade me otherwise, but i think everyone has come to a point in a build/project where enough is enough and you have to draw the line at bank breaking perfectionism...

although i keep looking at those Soyo's........

Track supermarket sells them for 138usd a pop and that'll total at 180 squids for a pair. And yes, these tyres shouldn't see the dodgy streets of London but the sweet tarmac of Herne Hill! You need to splosh on a street set up aswell. ;)
Wish I lived in London and around Herne Hill.......

Me too..... I'm up in Manc!

I definitely wanna see this in the flesh/steel sometime, will it be on the streets of Mancland or just for track?

i always think of hattori hanzo when i see (pictures off) a nagasawa.
i am not jealous at all though.

This dude?
Why?

• #262
You must have big rats if you need Hattori Hanzo's steel.

Love the rest of the build though. Moar pics when you sort out the rubber please! ; )

• #267
Let me know what you think after the pic above
-
• #268
ok ok ok i get it, tyres out, i thought they looked.....ok....
-
• #269
Considering it's a pink frame, the yellow tyres don't offend me at all really ;)
Looks great to me.
You taping the bars or leaving em?
-

I was just expecting something more classic with the tyres. All the talk was of gum walls and it got me a bit hot under the collar, then... BOOM! Yellow Vittorias punching me in the face.
Ride it, enjoy it. Then get some classy skins for those rims.

You didn't go for yellow Strong-V's did you?

I'd quite like to see that.

Hahaha
@roboto - no, black strong V's getting ordered. just pinged a mail to Gabe at NJS export, see if he has a pair of Soyo Gold Star@Hairingtons - I think yellow Strong V's could look quite cool, just the problem of whether the shade of yellow would match the yellow of the Vittoria's, black is black, and I think one yellow is enough for the moment! And yeah I thought the yellow tyres looked pretty cool!
Sorry I didn't reply to your previous post either, this will mainly be around the streets of Manc, if you wanna come over take a look, pop me a PM! -

I have to agree with Rob, those tyres are taking it out of the porn category for me.

The rest of it is pretty darn special though!
Yep. Has to be Veloflex. Seen as you are obviously rolling in dough, get Records. They roll sooooo smooth.
Looking forward to the finish...
