I don't need the cable guides and drilled brake bridge, nor the bottle cage bosses. The PC has steel track end inserts and is 20 quid cheaper. Does the FXE have more tyre clearance than tha Pre Cursa?
Dolan site says the Pre Cursa will take max 23c and FXE will take 25c with guards. Kinda hoping that's over cautious as I've got 25c Paselas for my Pre Cursa but it would appear that the FXE is meant to have more clearance.
The track end inserts on the Pre Cursa are aluminium so although you can replace them, they're still potentially going to get chewed up and they're only on the outside, so not that well thought out anyway.
As for not wanting cable guides and bottle cage bosses etc, I guess that's at least ruled out the Pompino :)
Sounds like you'll probably be okay with the Pre Cursa tbh unless you're really determined to run some pretty big tyres in winter.

geo doesn't work for me at all.
And you want a Pompino?

• #1030
Nope, Ed told me to get one.

Might sell my complete 2012 blue pompino in size medium.
Has strong light 2000 cranks, aerotracks, deda cockpit, zoncolan and a front tektro mini v.
Any interest here before I post an ad?

I ride a medium plug and I'm 5.11, what size would I want in a Dolan pre cursa or track champion?
Thanks

Thanks, this is useful. I'm not planning to run humongous 29er tyres. Past winter I ran Michelin Transworld Sprint in 35C (image below), with an actual width of about 30mm iirc, was perfect. I don't "not want" the guides and bosses, I simply don't need them so they wouldn't be a reason to go with the FXE. I'm leaning towards the Pre Cursa now, how much tyre clearance is there in real life milimeters (like not manufacturer's claims)?

Thought as much. Thanks

Good fit? Would have thought 54. That's what I'm using. 56 would feel quite stretched out no?
-
• #1043
no, the 54 felt cramped.

Yeah - with a track length stem (>120mm) the 56 gets longo bongo!

Is there a (huge) difference handling-wise between the Pre Cursa with track fork and a PC with the road fork?
-
• #1046
no, the 54 felt cramped.
Just because a 56 felt right for you doesn't mean it will automatically be right for other.
If he find a bike with a 54cm top tube generally fit well, then best to go for the 54cm Dolan.

Best to go for road fork, less rake does not equal a faster handling bike.
-
• #1048
But is there a huge difference or are they pretty similar? What`s different?
-
• #1049
Track fork tend to have less rake, whether road's more.

How does that affect the handling? Do you feel a significant change?
