Would have thought load was predominantly vertical (rider) with some torsional BB stress on pedal stroke?

^ I assumed the same but thinking about it I guess the seatstays take most of the vertical load at the rear.

Has anyone had any experience of ordering from Dolan....keen in their cyclocross frame for off road/commuter project but can never get through on the phone....do you just order online and hope for the best?
