Spotted a very 'on here' looking Condor at New Covent Garden market today. Orange/yellow fade paint job, 5 speed (I think). Also a SS Ribble winter trainer (blue). Anyone lost bikes matching these descriptions?

Just seen this on facebook, may be useful to some: Attention all those who have had their bike stolen in Hackney in recent times.
The Leabridge Safer Neighbourhood team have today recovered over 250 bikes and bike parts, along with arresting 2 people. Tomorrow they will be releasing dates of an Open Day for identification of the stolen bikes. It will be publicised on their Twitter account @MPSHackney we will also try to post it here. Lets hope some local residents can be reunited with their stolen bikes, pedal or wheels!
Well done to our local Safer Neighbourhood Team.
This is in todays Evening Standard

Hi there, mine stolen @ 1400 today, light bue Peugeot, had it for 2 days, taken on Lower Belgrave rd close to Victoria station SW1. First bike in 7 years, didn't realise things were this bad.

I just had my bike stolen, fairly sad day. It wasn't anything special by any means but it meant more to me than I thought it did when I was riding it! Only put a new set of wheels on it 2 weeks ago and new tyres...The fact that it was locked within the flat only makes life worse!
Probably too late now, but it was a matte black levante, rear mud guard, spd pedals and converted to drop handles. Grrr...
Hopefully someone up there will let me find something else on here! -

Just saw this motobecane with campagnolo vento wheels & strada chainset poorly listed on Brighton gumtree, could be straight up but the average person would list the spec and be able to spell properly.

I had a pie in the sky idea the other day. i was wondering if someone could make a minute gps chip that they put inside the frame. If it slid up and down on a wire, the motion could keep a battery charged. And then when the bike is stolen it could be tracked. Thieves could only get at it if they cut open the frame. The aim would be to install these on all new bikes. But I think I've seen too much James Bond...

There is a stem GPS tracker, which I may have a play with for my Colnago. It's not cheap, but if it gets my bike back, it's worth it. My saddle, lock and lights that went weren't returned when my bike was stolen cost me £200+

Wife's bike stolen this morning, dark grey / black ladies hybrid ridgeback, taken from bike rack outside Creperie Du Monde on Chatsworth Road. Not an expensive bike but it was what she was used to and it's a load of hassle getting another.

great forum! first time poster!
quick question in general if a £200-£400 bike is locked up outside with a very good D-lock and chain, is it likely to get nicked ? I want a commuter bike but don't really have space in my flat.. have bike locks improved much over the last 20 years? It would be locked in oxford circus and n.hill area. -

Define very good. If good enough for the "Locks that work" thread then you are doing the best you can to prevent it going, and bikes of similar worth are left poorly locked all around london, so in that respect a thief would be unlikely to go after yours. However no d-lock/chain defeats power tools so if someone specifically wanted it, they could get it in a few unmolested minutes overnight. It's your call if that's a risk you can take...

I will get "locks that work" for daytime use and try to negotiate with my girlfriend to keep another one inside. I'm walking around london and there are so many bike casualties with wheels missing.

Newbie - My bike was stolen from a fenced premises in broad daylight in SE16, South east london. Its a old curly lugged Carlton frame - very unique.
It has rust and wear with a clear coat over the top. The fame also has vintage oil and gas company transfers under the clear coat. Purple forks, blue frame. One bike pump lug is broken.
It has no logo black wheels, all black components, and a large rivet Brooks saddle
the last image shows the person who stole this bike with the help of a female friend. I have posted it on ebay - the police have the cctv footage, and I've notified local shops. I didnt get a chance to go to brick lane though (as I dont live in london).
many thanks for your time in advance.
Gutted to loose my first build.
