Daveangel, I've got a few hundred quid coming your way if you can make a decent merino boxer short/trunk.
I own both Rapha and Velobici merino boxers, and I don't rate either model very highly. It seems obsolete to brag about your seamless construction (Velobici) or flatlock seams (Rapha) if the boxer itself is so roomy that it folds up underneath my top layer. (Btw, I am sure I am using the right size as the elastic waistband is spot on for the size I use). And they should be shorter – I feel like I am wearing mummy underwear as both brands reach almost up to my bellybutton. It's still lovely to wear good merino next to your skin of course, so I use them regularly, but they never feel quite right.
So knowing that Tørm are not averse to picking up a bit of inspiration from elsewhere I reckon you should just make an exact merino copy of the bog standard Armani trunks. I'd be happy to pay north of 30 quid a piece.
I'd love to say yes however me and Al only want to focus on jerseys and baselayers, do one thing well. Not only that we know nothing about making boxer shorts !
