Honister Pass:
Thats my local, 25 mins from back door gets you to foot of newlands pass (next one down the valley), over newlands, then turn right up borrowdale to the head of the valley then you have some (feels like) half a mile of 1:4 rucked up tarmac under trees with a refreshing waterfall up the side of it. Spits you out on top fairly quickly from that side then long fast descent into top of the valley you started in. About 2.5 hours round trip door to door and I don't know how much climbing but its enough.

What a beautiful bit of tarmac, where is it tibbly? I bet there's not a pothole in site unlike the UK.

Going to have some free time soon. Just planned a ride I've been gagging to do for ages. A 240km round trip, that involves coastal roads, a couple big climbs, and a couple ferrys.
Nice coastal ride to the town of Vestnes.

Climb from the town of Stranda over the mountains.

Come on people, if you're going to post a pic at least say where it is!

Some of these roads look a bit anti to me. The ones that carve across open hillsides look more like scars than 'porn'. Jambon's one up there, as an example, is (aesthetically speaking) completely insensitive to the gradient it traverses. Probably just me. #canofworms

^ that's actually a good point. The scar-like ones are a bit "man's dominion over nature" and you're going to either like or dislike that. I confess I've only really been thinking about them in the sense of what they'd be like to climb, rather than how they fit into the surrounding landscape. The Honister Pass pics that Sanddancer posted look right for that reason, because they're almost a natural part of the valleys, rather than being purely "look what we did!"

Stock newington?

Well May is going to see me with time to cycle further into the mountains from the cost where I live. There'll be a few winding climbs, which best qualify as road porn. But for me, the lonely valley roads are the most dramatic. Cycling along a small line of asphalt, on your little bicycle, with, steep, grey mountains towering over you from both sides. Humbling, and just a little scary.

Mine was grabbed from steephill.tv its the tour of Romandie, here is the original caption.
The Tour of Romandie is known more for its narrow roads (some built by the Romans) than serious mountains. There are always several good scenic shots each year of the great recreational cycling roads in western Switzerland, This one is from the 2008 race near Sierre.
Readers wives and all that. All in France. Between Nice and Lyon. Road porn heaven.

My apologies, the only accompanying description was 'Central Pyrenees', which seemed vague enough to not be much use.

Brilliant choice of gif.

Has this been in here yet?
-
• #573
Is that^ meant to be some kind extreme S&M road porn. I can feel the lactic build up just looking at it. Do not want.

• #574
I thought the road pervs on here liked going uphill?
-
• #575
hahaha, yes! but... only before and after climbing, not during. during, you wonder 'where's the fun in this?' 'why, for god's sake?'
as soon as you reach the top, those thoughts are gone and you find yourself looking for more climbs. idiotic but true
Haha while this is cool, this is definitely not rideable! The following section of this 'road' looks like this...

Hands down the coolest Hike I've ever done though... best bang for your buck ever (3 hours of intense effort for amazing amazing views)
