This is for sale in a shop in town. Thought it might interest a few of you on here. It's pretty big, must have a case diameter of around 50mm.

Funny how the prices rise; my Wesolowski book states the Laco observation watches as being £500-£600 in 1996.

You can still get RAF 6B watches for reasonable money, plus they aren't huge.

The weird thing is I thought the monster was minging the first time I saw it. I don't know why but I really love it now.

Can someone explain what is meant by jewels please? As in some automatic watches quote number of jewels. Like those Seikos up there ^^ even say 23 or 21 jewels on the face. Cheers.

Have just picked up my next restoration project and a bit of a grail watch for me. Because of Seiko's case back marking system not only can you determine the year a watch was made but also the month in that year. This watch was made in the same year and month that I was born:

not only is it made the same year and month that you were born. you also bought it on the exact day, month and year that I turned 30! what a coincidence!

I have read that pilots watches were meant to go over the top of the flight jacket, hence would have a long strap and were generally pretty large.

I really like that watch on the newspaper that Sohi posted.

Anyone know of the movements are any cop?
