Not so much a pet but our ewes are finally popping out the lambs at a decent rate...

This is Mika, Maine Coon. Adopted after she decided she hated the four other cats she was living with and was going to kill them. Not just the usual yowling and hissing but full on attacks leading to vet bills. She's calmed down a lot now.
Sadly I have to report that Mika is no longer with us. She was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy (heart failure) two weeks ago. This is something Maine Coons are prone to due to their size. Unfortunately with cats, by the time they show symptoms of the illness it's usually too late to do anything, in the end we had to take the decision that it was better for her not to struggle on any longer and she died peacefully earlier today.
Not happy. :(

Sorry to hear about Mika. We have a Maine Coon too, and didn't realise the risk. We'll be sure to get him checked out if possible.

Its not just Maine Coon's, I had 2 Bengals (1 Snow Leopard & 1 Tabby) and one suffered from this condition....Leo was always a nutter a very highly strung since day 1. Over Christmas and New Year a couple of years ago he suddenly went down hill with no prior warnings. All very sad but nothing could be done.....Bruno carried on for another few years (till he was 15)....best cats ever

Thanks for all the good wishes guys, She was the words best cat (aren't they all) and sadly missed. I'm still finding bits of fur attached to random articles of clothing when I go in the wardrobe, just to remind me.

London based dog owners: what's the deal with your landlord and your pets? Do you rent properties that allow dogs or keep them on the hush hush?
