Well set up (cable) discs do have a decent amount of modulation, so once you've trained your fingers to not just pull on that lever just as hard as they can then you'll love them.
hydro's are even better modulation wise, so yes, potentially much more power available, however, you'll rarely ever lock up or do an endo unless you wanted to.
