Why did I commute breakless on my track bike today?Because you're an incurable hipster?

Because you're an incurable hipster?
Ha!
Is it on tonight this time, or hipsterness only justifies me riding a track bike today?
-
• #1204

• #1205
Ah! See you both there also!

Had a brilliant first session. I was hoping it would be devils, as that has always held a lot of appeal to me when I've been watching racing before, and it was as fun as it has always looked.

Watched tonight's session for 10 minutes or so after a few laps of dulwich park on my track bike. Looked fantastic. Really can't believe that I've lived in south east London for 5 years now and never done my basic training induction for HH.

Really good first ever Monday night Race Training for me last night, loved it!
Thanks for the coaches for a brilliant session, see you next week and btw some of those VCL kids are quick! -

See you next week.

Wondering how many riders were there last night?

Thanks for the coaches for a brilliant session, see you next week and btw some of those VCL kids are quick! They are tactically strong too. Wait until you get boxed in by some 12 year old who doesn't give a damn if he misses school in the morning. They don't budge.

You're right, there was a girl there last night who can't have been older than 12, weighs 5 stone wet through who was shouting(quite rightly) at everyone to hold their line, stay up there and she was beat me in the scratch race at the end....
Guess they've been riding the track since they could walk

There was one VCL girl whose riding style meant that her front wheel moved about 10cm from side to side with every pedal stroke. She was fast though, and I'm starting to think it was possibly deliberate, and a way of ensuring no-one gets too close during the devil, and it did make me pretty nervous.

Also, what category in the track league do the strongest riders at the race training ride in?
-
• #1215
Youth.

• #1216
And the big chaps?
-
• #1217
It's hard to answer, but the reasoning behind Monday night race training is that it is a stepping stone from intermediate training on a Saturday towards competing in the Wednesday night track league.
The strongest riders are probably competitive in the Bs and could hang in with the As.

I'm hoping when i get a chance to start racing and unfortunately cant make this Saturday afternoon i won't get too slaughtered.
Appreciate there's a definite step up from Sat intermediate sessions and Monday night but i have been doing Derny training so hopefully wont get my head kicked in completely -

The guys winning the 'experienced' group yesterday race with the As.

Is it still possible this year for someone to have their induction done on monday night training, during the warm up laps? I know this was happening a couple of years ago... A friend of mine would like to start training, it would be easier for him mondays than saturdays...
Thanks

It's done some weeks and not others. Demand and instructors depending.
Best thing wold be to Tweet or email them and ask if it's happening on a set week. -

Thanks

I just checked HH website and it now appears they're only for people with some experience. If you're a total novice you have to do saturday.

The pace in that block pursuit was absolutely brutal in our group. It shredded me.
