In fact not full DA< My Bike does have a Athena headset at the moment, then hopefully getting a DA ITL headset when I see a good one. Could pass over when found if you need?
As you said forks look bit strange, but reckon true to frame, chrome looks good. Kind of looks like they were fully chromed then stripped back?
Merckx Extra Frames can be strange, Part/Full chromed rear triangle, Chromed forks or not.
Hitachi race frames even seen in Reyonlds 653, and sponsored by Mavic componants. As said when done a Merckx ride to do..

Cheers for headset offer but that and the BB will be bought brand new. I remember your bike - up for a Merckx ride too.
Saddle arrived this morning. Despite being NOS there were a number of smudges from storage so it's had a clean - seatpost is for illustrative purposes only as I'll be having a Record aero post with the shield engraving.
Decided I couldn't live with the awful lining so thanks to the orange paint being very poor quality it was no match for sandpaper, a miniature screwdriver, a drawing pin for the poky bits and the resolve to spend a while scraping it all off. Thoroughly enjoyed it though.
And Record cranks to replace the Athena which I'll sell soon enough. Shamals are about paid for thanks to Hilly Ben accepting dole money adds up to installments only. Next to arrive from its lonely voyage all the way from Australia is a single SLX decal.

Moments ago I applied the SLX decal which arrived this morning approximately 1mm out of whack when scrutinized like I never will again, but I'm all out of alignment myself so it's in good company. Conducting a test on the clearcoat I bought from a model shop I never knew existed on a surplus sticker applied to the 18 SPEED Raleigh Mustang I adored 20 years ago but haven't touched since, to make sure it doesn't corrode the decal or steel.
In light of Henry's just finished custom Oak this struggles for significance.

be careful with the model shop laquer!
chrisbmxrobinmarine ruined his NOScolonagoswinnerton decals with it.. I prefer clear nail varnish.. -

Exactly why it's coming nowhere near this frame until I'm satisfied it won't perform an Alien acid-blood death to the shitheap Mustang probably dissolving as I type.
