Partly frame clearance, partly as a low tech front suspension and also because its a simple conversion to make to an existing 29er, without splashing out cash on a fat bike.
And of course it looks awesome :-) I intend on trying it out myself eventually.
That Spot looks great. Looks very similar to Smallfurry's frame.
