Hmmmm, not convinced. Why not flip the stem and run the mary the right way up?
This would alter the grip angle I guess. So if its a personal taste thing, fair enough.

There's more suspension travel than there is tyre clearance. Doesn't feel safe to me.

If the tyre clears the bridge. It really should'nt hit the crown. Its the down tube you need to be careful with. Which looks fine here.
My fat lefty was bloody close on my 29er. Couldnt get it to hit by jumping up and down on it though.

^^ It'll be fine Sparky. Being a Manitou fork it's most likely seized up by now anyway ;-)

Ha!
To be fair, they were on the frame when I bought it, and have never been serviced, but they are still really plush.... I wouldn't have bought them at rrp in a million years though... They were about £750, I think (manitou r7 mrd absolute). They weigh fuck all too.
Travel is absolutely fine though..... I've had a quick blat around, jumped a few curbs etc, and the bars, dare I say it, are exactly where I want them. The levers need tweaking a bit though. I might ditch the mtb grips and go with bar tape. Or longer bmx grips, not sure. Or I might flip em. Decisions, decisions! -

Partly frame clearance, partly as a low tech front suspension and also because its a simple conversion to make to an existing 29er, without splashing out cash on a fat bike.
And of course it looks awesome :-) I intend on trying it out myself eventually.
That Spot looks great. Looks very similar to Smallfurry's frame.

I really want to coat a frame, rims, spokes, hubs... pretty much everything except for contact point moving parts (chainring teeth) with neverwet.

You wouldn't even need to wash the bike down.

I wonder what would happen if you did coat the drive components in it, imagine a dry lube with that stuff.

Then you'd have the bike equivilant of those incredibly shiny Range Rovers/Porche Cayennes/Audi Q7s/BMW X5s.

Nah, those never get dirty because they're never taken off-road in the first place. This would be a bike that never got dirty in spite of being taken off-road.
You'd be filthy... but the bike would be spotless.

Nice. I have an older Longboard. Sweet geometry, and quality ride. But the belt tugs are shit. Finally given up on thm and ordered some DMR ones.
Its been a good winter bike this year.
why only phat front end?
For the same reasons you might only run front suspension, or a wider front tyre. I chucked a 4.8" front tyre on the spot for winter. With a Spiker pro rear tyre. The front tracked brilliantly, and float lightened steering. The rear digs in and gives traction. Such a fun set-up. Mind you the front weighed the same as the rest of the bike. So its nice to have the carbon forks on again.
Just ordered a WTB Nano for the rear. Want a lighter, faster, and narrower rear.

I know that fat bikes are easy to wheelie but i thought it would be a bit heavy upfront

I was blown away by how light the Pugsley is!

non-sus-corrected custom 29er are pretty awesome
geo on that looks pretty monstercross'ish, looks fun
e: I mean the toptube looks short, not the angles.

So the weather's looking better and I need to get some new tyres to suit. I'm changing down from 2.2 contis. What width and model should I be looking at at the more budget end of the scale for a heavyish guy?
I like the look of tyres that look like slicks but with rude looking nobbly bits sticking out if that makes sense. Sort of like those Richeys above.

^ I like that - Would look even nicer with a rigid fork :-)
I just put a Fleegle bar onto Ogre mk2 as the Mary was too narrow for my taste. Haven't had the chance to try it yet though.
