Because if I really believe someone has understood and they apologise, I'm still happy to let it go.
But this doesn't change the fact that a (very) small number of people really should gain an understanding that when their peers are trying to set them straight... one really should pay attention to it. If it gets to the point where I step in, it will always have a severe and sudden outcome, and there's just no real need for me to do that.
