Dolan site says the Pre Cursa will take max 23c and FXE will take 25c with guards. Kinda hoping that's over cautious as I've got 25c Paselas for my Pre Cursa but it would appear that the FXE is meant to have more clearance.
The track end inserts on the Pre Cursa are aluminium so although you can replace them, they're still potentially going to get chewed up and they're only on the outside, so not that well thought out anyway.
As for not wanting cable guides and bottle cage bosses etc, I guess that's at least ruled out the Pompino :)
Sounds like you'll probably be okay with the Pre Cursa tbh unless you're really determined to run some pretty big tyres in winter.
Thanks, this is useful. I'm not planning to run humongous 29er tyres. Past winter I ran Michelin Transworld Sprint in 35C (image below), with an actual width of about 30mm iirc, was perfect. I don't "not want" the guides and bosses, I simply don't need them so they wouldn't be a reason to go with the FXE. I'm leaning towards the Pre Cursa now, how much tyre clearance is there in real life milimeters (like not manufacturer's claims)?
