Anyone?
Came up with some possible routes using an amalgamation of what I could find online:
http://www.mapmyfitness.com/routes/view/193279558
http://www.mapmyfitness.com/routes/view/193277618
http://www.mapmyfitness.com/routes/view/193282724
http://www.mapmyfitness.com/routes/view/193283848Fairly relaxed distances- as its more for fun than speed, but now need to work out lodging/ tenting/ wild camping/ where I'm going to sleep at all.
Any advice/help/knowledge would be massively appreciated.

doing this fixed? never cycled in the US other than in NYC*, but just interested.
*where I kept having to avoid Joseph Gordon-Levitt skidding around like a twat.

This sounds good!
http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/p..._id=35836&v=3E is the best website ever - from when the world was a nicer place to be.

I probably won't be, but the bike I'm doing it on is undecided as yet.

Ill be there from 22 June to 2nd July.
Cycling between Boston and NYC 24/25- 29 or something like that.
If you're there come with! -

This sound awesome, wish you the best.
So far I find it's best to avoid cycling through city/large town (unless necessary) as much as possible if experience is anything to go.
-
• #8
This sounds like so much fun! Jealous! Best of luck.
-
• #9
I'll be in new york then, but not that into cycle touring on my Brompton.
-
• #10
I would suggest you do the longer, but much more scenic route, on the coast. Depends on the number of days you have. Also avoid the cities: traffic will slow you down and the best part of new england is the countryside.
-
• #11
Yeah- I will definitely be going as coastal as possible.
Things to get sorted in the meantime are- places to sleep, stuff to take, and bike.Need to get some good frame bags sorted- because I don't massively want to be carrying a backpack.

Check the wind first!
You can make your own saddlebag, get a drybag and a handful of strap to strap it under the saddle.
-
• #13
Wind preparation is underway. Boston (UK) is constantly windy, so plenty of practice.
I just found my Archie saddle bag.
Win. -

Incidentally- just re-planned my route provisionally- depending on how quickly each day goes the distance will probably go up- I'd like to cycle a bit around Cape Cod- for example.

http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/220556417Totals:
815km, 4k climbing so pretty alright over 5 days. -
• #24
How much time are you giving yourself to get out of Boston? It's going to be traffic light intensive until you hit the 495.
-
• #25
Hopefully enough!
Plan for each day is start at about 6- especially that first day- when I may leave a bit earlier even, just to beat the traffic as well.
3hrs riding, 15 min stops, an hr or so for lunch.
Should cover it nicely at a relaxed pace, no?
I know it must be doable, so I'm going to give it a shot this summer.
I've got the crazyguyonabike trip details:
http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/page/?o=1&page_id=35836&v=3E
And this bikely map:
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Boston-New-York-City1537
Does anyone rate/ have experience of the maps supplied by the American adventure cycling association? (http://www.adventurecycling.org/)
Or is there an OS equivalent?
Also definitely considering a GPS device...
Anyway. More in due course.
Tickets are booked now too so it will probably happen.
