Find a club in t'North and see if they will sell you a London North DC handbook, that will list all the club events in the district. And then double check dates and times with the promoting club, if the 2013 LWDC book is any guide to the accuracy of these publications.
On a somewhat related note, anybody thinking of riding the MDCC 10 on Thursday should check the website before travelling, as there are temporary traffic lights near the Squirrel at the moment which will put paid to it if they are still there on Thursday.

Does that mean the RCC one tonight was cancelled? Would make me feel better about not going.

Don't know, we'll see if a result is posted on their blog later

Apology for a small error.
I did say I was a bit stunned after finishing and that's probably why I got the result slightly wrong: second place went to Dean Robson, not Glenn Longland (although Glenn did win the 50-59 age group prize).
So the top three were:
- Andy Wilkinson (Port Sunlight Wheelers) 1.28.34.
- Dean Robson (Somerset Road Club) 1.30.43
- Paul Holdsworth (Hounslow & District) 1.34.28.
- Andy Wilkinson (Port Sunlight Wheelers) 1.28.34.

Odam? Does that mean anything to you?
No, maybe this is what I havent understood. From a quick google it seems to be a series named after Martin Odam.
Tester's right i should have got a hand book/need to get a hand book!

This event certainly lived up to its ‘hardrider’ title. The two-lap course, based on Charlbury in the Cotswolds, would be testing under any circumstances, but the near gale force wind which blew in the riders' faces on a long and exposed climb brought many down to a walking pace.
The course and conditions were both totally unsuited to single gears, and my own pathetic performance was not helped by being badly overgeared with a 63” bottom. Unfortunately I was too stunned at the finish to record the result properly, but I can tell you that Andy Wilkinson won with a 1.28, just failing to take the course record. Glenn Longland was second and Paul Holdsworth third.
However, my main reason for going was to be at the ‘after party’ at which the race promoter, Peter Whitfield, launched his new book: ‘Time, Speed and Truth, A History of Time Trialling 1890-2010’.
This gathering was one of the most star- studded time trial events I have ever seen. I recognised five former BBAR Champions: Frank Colden (1962), Martyn Roach (1968), John Woodburn (1978), Glen Longland (1986) and Wilco (1996). In addition there were Les West and Alf Engers. In fact almost everyone in the room (apart from myself) had some claim to fame.
Alf, who surprisingly has only just retired from his work as a baker, gave an interesting introductory speech in which (and here’s the single gear interest) he said that when he started time trialling in the early ‘50’s (he was born 1940) he was told by his senior (and, at the time, apparently knowledgeable) club mates that: “gears are 3 minutes slower than fixed at 25 miles.” It only took him until 1959 to get comp. record (55.01), on fixed naturally, but it took another 19 years for him to achieve the record he really wanted – 49.24. This was done on gears, but only three of them: 56 x 13, 14 and 15, and even then he only used the 15 to ride to the start.
When I have read the book I will review it here.
I haven't done a TT for years but the WTTA Hardriders series was my favourite, much better than rolling along the flat!

New 10 PB of 23.10 at the BUCS champs today, rather pleased. Got a 25 next Saturday so hopefully it'll be 2 pbs in 2 weeks.

• #3887
Keep it as 10, 25 and 50, or make it a sprint BAR of 2 10s and a 25 seeing as more people will be likely to meet that requirement?
-
• #3888
Stick to 3 distance, a 50 is already a sprint compared with the grown-ups' BAR.
-
• #3889
But 50 miles :(
-
• #3890
50 miles is only just over a tenth of what Hippy did to win a medal last year, HTFU

Knocked out my first 50 the other week. It hurt. I also had to turn round as I dropped my pitstop within the first minute..

New 10 mile PB for me yesterday in the Catford CC 10. Shame you couldn't ride Steve, well done for stepping into the breach and sorting out all the Vets standard times! If I enter next year you'll have to work mine out...
Maybe see you at one or two Bexley CC events, as I said yesterday work will be getting in the way this year, but only from June onwards, so once the early start ones are out the way I might be able to get there in time.

• #3893
Gonna try to get to Bexley this week for my first TT attempt.
Got a super cheap reversible Cervelo seatpost and Token clip ons for the full face down, ass up experience but no pointy hat.
-
• #3894
looking peng. nice. current work schedule means I won't be able to get to bexley for the foreseeable, which is no great loss seeing as I haven't found any legs that work yet.

Done any adaptation drills Mr duptap?

JAMIE advises that the limited numbers and the large amount of people going for the first few means you have to be quite early to get a place for bexley 10

@ hippy I have done a few hours round Regents Park fiddling with saddle fore and and checking I can breathe and generate tremendous wattage at the same time ;)
@ laner was wondering about that. Hmm. Official "course reconnaissance"?

ahar, de-stickered. i thought the hubs looked shimano but didn't recognise the rim. I was hoping they might be something cheaper i could ask about in case they were affordable and good. cheap-light-strong choose two etc.
