Sounds a bit like chain noise, possibly from a worn chain on a new sprocket. Did you change the chain when you fitted the new freewheel?

Chain was relatively new, can't be that as it makes the noise freewheeling and does not depend on cadence, rather wheel rpm. -

Dry / knackered wheel bearings most likely then, I'd say.

Just pulled them apart, bearing races are pitted to hell. Thanks for the advice!
I picked up some wheels for my daily runner, been using them a while now but they have a horrible noise coming from the rear. It's not the freewheel as Its new and I have tested other ones on there. The wheel is a bit buckled and spokes are seized, but I got them for free so who's complaining. Anyone know what this is and what I can do? Cheers
