I'd only suggest this as an absolute last resort, but a friend had a similar problem coming back from Paris, he just bought one of those enormous laundry bags and used that. The guards weren't overly impressed but by the time they'd realised, they were halfway to London and couldn't do anything.

Hmm, the woven nylon ones?
Might be a plan.

Yeah we ended up with bin bags, the guards seemed a bit pissed, but we got back fine.

Yup, those ones. Bought them in a hardware store in Paris before his train.

I brought one of these and use it daily, just take of the front wheel, stick bike and wheel in bag, walk on train.

I have something very similar to this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/tifosi-light-weight-bike-bag/ would happily lend it you except I need it for a Paris-London on the 24th. Works well on TGVs and I've never had a problem on Eurostar (even if, strictly speaking, it's too long for hand luggage) though admittedly it's not quite as good as the giant laundry bags.

I reckon we're leaning towards the laundry bags. Just a bit sketchy, don't want to not be allowed to board our train :/
So we've booked our train from Paris to Lourdes on the 23rd of April to cycle some Cols but they now tell us there are no bike spaces on the train and that we need to pack our bikes into bags of a specific dimension (boxes won't do apparently). Neither of us have a bag, nor any space to carry one - we're going ultra-light.
So, do any forumgers or their friends have a couple of bike bags we can borrow for the overnight train and return to them by post the next day? Deposit, beers or whatever you want in return!
Thanks,
David
