Lexus engines are a lot of bang for the buck. BMWs are popular for V8s and V12s, and Mercs from the rusty Chrysler era. Jaguar engines don't seem to be as plentiful or popular. Maybe because V8 Jags are still quite pricey?
Rover V8s in good condition are rare, and can't be made to make that much power anyway without spending way more than you could on a Lexus LS400 or a BMW 540.

Love the subtle post-production on that vulva pic.

aren't the lexii v8s auto-only? they are massive engines, too.

I'm guessing most will be auto but you can probably fit other boxes...

Also alot of the older bigger jap engines in the luxury cars weren't that sporty as they built for torque. There are people that have put the v6 and v8 toyotas in to the toyota MK1 mr2. Modernish engines changed that but they are still quite pricy.

There is a Merc 190e in Oz with a turbo'd Toyota Century V12.

Not something thats going to anyone excited here, but can anyone recommend somewhere that could source and fit a recon engine to a Ford Galaxy (1.9 TDi)? I can get one at scrap value from work cos the engine's "siezed"...I don't know any more than it won't turn over.... Other than that it's ok...i know the history from new, so it might make a decent motor to be able to chuck a load of bikes in and go away for weekends. I'm just reading bad things about a lot of engine rebuilders/recon places.....

I had a drive of a Nissan Cima V8. Apparently a popular choice of Yakuza staff car. Torquey is an understatement.

Minis leak. It'll be fine. Think of it as an automatic waxoyl system for the floorpan.

That BMW is handy for the box, was my thinking.
Danstuff- I believe you just said you'd do all the fabrication work if I bought the car/s?
I'll put it on the list of things to do. Although the TTD list does currently include:
3 cars
4 bikes
6 bike framesand a house.

possibly. although the engine won't start, the OD is fucked (poss a switch) and it's rusty.
loads of 'possible' easy fixes, but if they were that easy, he'd fix them.
i'd get a better one one to start off with.

i drove both and thought they were poo.
a spitfire with a 6 would be the best of both.

I believe a Supra transmission will bolt straight on.

Probably better off with any other british sports car from the same period. Always liked the look of GT6's but know it would be a let down and that a MGB/TVR 3000M would be a better bet.
Could pick up japanese v8's (out of Lexii/imported Toyota's etc) fairly cheaply.
