Personally I don't think cross-advertising is the end of the world if it's a legitimate attempt to sell your bike across various channels of potentially bike-wanting people, but having an account just for selling, for free and without ebay/other places fees, is essentially profiteering.
Agreed VKM (soz for acronym) gave better descriptions and was all round a more decent seller than most people who only use the forums for that purpose, but ultimately wasn't contributing anything outside of that
