Yep... they're lovely hubs. I'm lucky enough to have a set with perfect chrome!
I'm sure some folks will disagree, but you can have these rechromed...
I've spoken to a couple of people that have done this with these hubs and also Airlite hubs. You need to separate the flanges from the central barrels by tapping them out. I had Mick at Madgetts offer to do this for me, but I didn't need to bother in the end. The chroming would be cheap, under £20. You do need to be sure you have them rechromed by someone who is used to bicycle parts - so they don't alter the diameter of the barrel too much by over polishing in the prepping. I've had a stem steerer diameter suffer this fate and be too small to tighten in the fork properly. In terms of repressing the flanges, I was worried about them spinning or turning, but was assured that spoke tensions when built would mean no chance of this happening.
Having said all that, seems troublesome! I'd just use them as is, or wait for a better set if they need to be perfect!

Just rebuilt with new Grade 10 chrome steel bearings, and used Campagnolo cones, axles, locknuts etc.
Hub bearing surfaces are very good, just some cosmetic staining, no pitting.
Rear cones are excellent, rear hub very smooth. Left a tiny bit of play that is taken out under pressure of tightened QR.
Front hub cones are a tiny bit rough, no pitting, just not as perfectly smooth so wish to point it out. Could be replaced. Abel Baker Cycles sells correct repro cones for these hubs, or Campag Nuovo Tipo cones also work.
Lots of photos below. Any questions just ask.
