A fan of debate, Okaay. Well I've said plenty, you've put the self-interested point of view. Which isn't really any kind of argument as far as I'm concerned.
It's the kind of triumphalist sniping ignorance you see everywhere at the moment. As I said, revisionist re-writing of history. In short, she was widely despised, laughably useless and about to be slung out when along came a convenient war. She used the kudos she got from that as a basis to launch an all out attack on organised labour, ordinary working people who happened to think that organizing themselves for protection might be a good thing, not the enemy within as she so charmingly described them.
Backed it up by bribing the self-interested, corrupting the police, using the state as a weapon, spunking the North-sea oil money, destroying manufacturing, freeing up the spivs and bob's your uncle, the country's fucked. We've got to live with the legacy where the poor and disadvantaged get blamed, the spivs get richer and the self-interested keep their heads jammed firmly up their arses.
