  • What kind of knife-addled rape shed school has a cycling club?

  • ALL CAPS IN TITLE

    votes for Aussie coffee shop

  • Not voting for a private school to win, no way.

  • Come on now oiks it's only 10 grand per term. Be a good sport and help them out with some free bibs.

    Nailed it

  • Well....this went well
    /thread

  • In the interest of fairness, here's the page for all the entrants.

    You choose who to help:

  • The young enthusiastic cyclists or Australian MAMILs, tough one

  • So fucking what? What's your point? He goes to an expensive private school, what bearing does that have on them winning a little comp. Get a fucking grip.

  • Tmag59 - It's not about age or enthusiasm.

It's the fact that Dulwich College students do not need free bibs.

Also: it's interesting to note that your innate sense of undeserved meritocracy results in the charming assumption of superiority that traditionally demarcates the alumnus that your shitfarm school produces.
i.e: "we're younger and more enthusiastic - therefore we're better than anyone middle aged and in lycra". The competition is to win some lycra.

    Go Aussies!

  • So someone has taken time to design something but because they happen to be lucky enough to be sent to an expensive school, they don't deserve to win free bibs in a competition. Can you explain your thinking please?

  • Ah, I just got annoyed when I looked on the site and saw a lot of Jaquith Witherington's cheering them on, and for some reason I felt sorry for the rest of the competition, without the incredible resources on tap to compete. But I was being a dick though...

  • ... still, he should have defended it better.

  • Just as age isn't important nor is how much people's parents earn. Its just a competition from some free kit, no need to go on the attack so hard. If you don't agree with it then don't like the pic, no one is making you....

  • The voting system is flawed, if they had a judge panel then that would be a bit better and less likely to cause as much anger. But for Santini its all about publicity so I guess it has to remain that way.

  • Hope they've got insurance for breach of copyright when Stella McCartney sees their design

  • Our personal opinions on the "privileged" aside, or the design, a member of this forum, a cycling forum which prides itself on being a community both online and off has made a fairly small request. The voting system is easy, all you have to do is press the 'Like' button. There are fucking thousands of us here, looking at the current tally, we could easily go over there, press the button and win a member of our group and his mates some free kit. Why not do it?

Then perhaps when Tmag59 and his pals win the fresh new kit, they can rally round and pool some of their tuck shop money and perhaps help him get a star next to his name by way of thanks/karma redistribution?

  • FFS.

if it's a competition based on design (which someone worked on) then the Dulwich one is miles ahead for that fucking rank aussie thing! Looks like they've nicked the photo off a bloody nescafe packet.

All the other bollocks is irrelevant. It's a competition, so what if they don't 'need' bibs paid for-they're putting in some graft to get them independently and they support Herne Hill, merit enough imhop.

  • Agree with all of the above with one small caveat. How do they support Herne Hill? Is just saying "I support Herne Hill" enough of a qualification? (hence why I asked on fb)

Just wondering, I'm more than happy to click 'like' to support a local cycling club, whatever my personal views on the private school system are. Its not like I have a vested interested in how Santini choose to give away their products...

  • Their FB comments suggest that as a club, they utilise HH regularly. Fuck it, they get my vote.

  • Alot of the kids who ride at herne hill are probably from in and around dulwich. Track is not a cheap sport to get your kids into seriously. Alot of them probably go the private schools like dulwich. Ocdc's class war ranting is pathetic.

  • Yep this forum was built on compassion and support and not questioning anything.
If you can't take a dig (Come on now oiks it's only 10 grand per term. Be a good sport and help them out with some free bibs) then you might as well do one, which to be fair, he very promptly did without any attempt to explain what the deal was - Herne Hill, Oxfam or Anne fucking Frank aside.

  • I don't know the answer to this as a generalisation, but a friend of my girlfriend was sent to a public school, as was his brother, both paid for by their parents remortgaging their house.

So- I would suggest that whilst the majority will be minted some may not be.
