nice bike but...
if the bike is sold through this forum
does that mean it's listed elsewhere?

That's my own website indeed Apollo...

He's got the biz. This is also his website: http://vintagekogamiyata.com/. Rules are meant to be flaunted aren't they.

Hi Pork,
http://vintagekogamiyata.com is Dirk's website, not mine.
Dirk's 'bizz' isn't a bizz it's a hobby I can guarantee you, and it's certainly not my bizz (my bizz is http://in2watches.com). I buy, and sometimes sell, a bike because I like bikes.
I do help Dirk with his website though, as a friend, not as a bizz either. No rules broken here in my opinion...
Cheers,
Gerard
ps. What do you think of my Batavus by the way?

can you tell me when a bizz is a bizz..to me you're selling so you're making money .
I like bikes too but I have to make a living out of it..
so what's that then?? -

I’m not in to watches but good on ya for the shameless plug.
My hobby is building a flight simulator out back and birding. Maybe I charge the locals for rides in the simulator when I’m done.
Me thinks when you maintain (at least) two websites, post adverts for the same bike on multiple sites, hide prices from your initial page (read more please), etc., you call your bizz a “hobby” only to keep the tax man out of your arse. I understand, I remember the Belastingdienst. Ruthless bastards.
@RIH – I hope you stay in the bizz. I don’t think I’ve seen one bike of yours that I wouldn’t like to have if I wasn’t such a broke bastard.
And Gerard – no need to ask your mate Dirk to comment on this saddle, which is indeed quite nice, for bump. I just gave you one. -

Hi RIH,
My watches are a bizz to me, that's where I make a living out. Although at the same time there even more than a hobby; might call it a passion. So you're right, a hobby can be a bizz as well, and the other way around. For me bikes aren't a bizz though, but a hobby (sometimes I sell one but making money with it is far far away- ha ha!).
@porkburns I just tried to explain the situation as a gentlemen. Don't know what to say any more now. It seems that anything I explain makes it worse. I'm sorry, as a newbie I just have to find my way around here at LFGSS and get used to the habits.
Best regards,
Gerard

To get the attention back to the main point here, let's lower the price of the bicycle and rise the donation to LFGSS.
The new price for this beautiful 1981 Batavus Competition is GBP 250,= including shipping and insurance; and I'll donate GBP 25,= to LFGSS when the bike is sold.

is this a bit like politicians who say they all do it for the people??

@porkbuns i get the impression you spend your life on forums, but haven't mastered reading expression through text. The sellers "shameless plug" was quite clearly a justified attempt to show Rih that he was in fact NOT plugging anything at all. er well porkbuns... perhaps extend your time spent on forums from 10 hours a day to 12, you'll get there in the end :)

@appoloo, rih and porkbuns
For Christs' sake don't be such pedants and try to run Gerad and Dirk off of here!
They clearly love their bikes and post a few great one's on here for sale and if you want further info you can check out their websites.
I have learned a hell of a lot about Dutch bikes from their posts and hope to buy a bike from them at some point.
Keep up the good work guys.

Sorry just spent the last 18 hrs of this holy weekend searching forums on how to critically read forum posts. Still confused. I knew I should’ve taken a few humanities courses.
@dgarland90: since you’re not wasting your life away reading forums and are into critical reading and shit maybe you could put together online course for all us pedants. Wait isn’t that a bit of an oxymoron?
Anyway circling back … it was a smooth move (pun intended), one any slippery politician would admire … plead sincere ignorance, apologize, and make a donation to your favorite charity. All that was missing was to pledge to build a new playground for handicap kids.
But we’re here for the love bikes aren’t we? And Mr. VintageKoga just unearthed another stunner! And I just gave this bloody advert another bump. Shiiit.
@Captain Vimes: what I can say but … that’s cute.

Dirk was banned for life meanwhile, and I took (had to take, because of the classified ads forum rules) my Batavus off here because I'm showing it on my own (private) website as well.
It looks like appoloo, rih and porkburns succeeded in the end...

dirk took the piss, he listed directly from his own site, listed on marketplaces, and here
he was not part of community, just a trader -

A shame. It's a nice bike for a great price and I didn't see anyone (who was actually looking to buy a bike) complaining.
