Just a quick recommendation for anyone who has a circular saw to make themselves a guide- I made mine out of two offcuts of plywood, then glued and screwed it together.
Makes shortening a door a 3 minute job:
Assemble the Usual Suspects
Measure and mark up
Make sure nothing is going anywhere
Run the saw along the guide
Re-hang your door.
