  • Really great frame. 853 with a large downtube is the best.

  • lemme guess, you own one?

  • How else could I be sure?

Cheers. Yes, this here is my regular ride and bike that makes me smile the most. Long live the FIXie!

  • id love a donohue

  • Trek Multitrack 721

^^ doesn't it have vertical dropouts? A bit of a limitation, no?

I would nick the rack and guards, sell it on for the same as you paid, and then find a frame with horizontal ones/a better quality steel.

    This is sound advice.

Personally I would cheaply service* the bike, and then ride it as is for a month. IMO its probably not it's worth spending *any *money on. If you do really like it, then turn it to SS. You can make a chain tensioner out of an old mech which I'm sure someone will be able to give you if you post a wanted ad.

If in a month you feel a bit meh. Then clean it up take the guards and rack (which will always cost you the best part of £50 to get new), and sell it on gumtree/similar. It will be almost summer and people will be thinking about cycling again, so you should get your money back.

As suggested above an On-One Pompino sounds perfect for your needs.

*by which I mean clean, WD40, lube, etc. rather than new cassette, chain, etc.

  • I think Gaston just evolved into Gaston (lvl 2)

  • Total nuts, love it^^^^^

at least the seatpost is the right way round...

  • Concorde 80s track frame arrived today, alongside the SWEET patina, there's this little sticker. Not sure if it's original, but totally kewl in a sweet fixeh tattoo way, innit.

  • Yuppies road bike circa 1999.
I thought it was a little too small in the seat tube dept but seems ok with un slammed stem.
Mostly DA7700, needs a more leisurely cassette for me I think.
The Spinergy Spox are light as hell but I think I'll get some less joke wheels when I can, maybe Mavic Aksium??

That looks awesome and I like the wheels. Although if you switch them I'd consider going for all silver semi-box section / low profile rims.

I think it does need a less chunky stem though.

  • Gaston, where can I get one of those saddles?

  • Right... trying to decide what to do with this.
It's a full Campy pista group, bars are 3TTT pista (old style, and not the Cinelli Pista that the seller said...), stem is old style Cinelli XA.
It's all in good nick, rust on top tube has been stopped with helicopter tape so I think I'll leave it as is.
The rims don't fit at all, so I might just pass the wheels on and get some other Record wheels in their place. With Omega Vs possibly?

Needs some flat crown track forks as well, these are some I had lying around.

  • Gaston, where can I get one of those saddles?

so you can put it out of it's misery?

  • Loving the colour. What It'd do is:
Dark anodized rims (Omega Vs would look splendid)with gumwalls,
    Black san marco laser,
    Black cotton tape,
Change the chainring to the one with sausage cutouts

    Well, and pedals obviously

  • Rat V 1.1 with velo orange rack, next step Prologic Carp Fishing bag

  • ^ excellent

  • Gaston, where can I get one of those saddles?

  • What a difference black kit makes...

Those pedals are my 'quick spin on the road in normal shoes pedals, btw.

  • obligatory foot retention post, admittedly looks much tidier with black contact points

  • Looks spot on to me.

But I guess it just comes down to how perfect you want the build and how much you want to spend. But aroseisaroseis is pretty much on the money. Although I'd go for grey ano TB14's* with campag track hubs (low or high, but preferably high).

    • I'm assuming you're not going to run tubs.
  • I have a set of ano record tubs that I've sold but the buyer is taking forever to collect. Temptes to keep but tubs on street bike = ball ache.
The black wheels are my 'best' track wheels, I just put them on to see. Definitely looks better though.
Gonna sell the Record/cxp23 clinchers and would like some tb14s anyway, it's going to be a while though. Finances are exhausted!

I live in on an incredibly quiet road and wouldn't ride on those pedals much further than the end of my drive. I'm not stupid!
