There's of the order of 5% more speed to be had going from a round tubed frame with boxy 32 spoke wheels to all the aero refinements, a bit less for a standing start event. It matters just as much however short your event is - 5% in a match sprint is 10 metres, a distance at which your opponent is basically no longer in the race.
