I don't think 'fixie' riding ever caught on in significant numbers outside of London and other major urban centres. Certainly in Cheltenham and Bristol where I ride I never see many other riders on the road. Sure there are significant amounts hidden away in Brizzle but in 'nam I see maybe one a week. The fucker is fast too, rides a Dolan with two brakes. Always catches me when I'm feeling lazy on the commute home
