  • Hello
New french guy moving to London with my bicycle. Hope to ride with you soon

  • Just joined LFGSS and thought I should say hello and introduce myself. I'm not strictly from London but worked on Baker Street for 8 years as a designer. Commuted everyday on my Cannondale Badboy (sorry it's wasn't a SS or a fixie) from West Hampstead - best view of London is from a bike seat :)

I've just bought a 2012 Specialized Langster off a friend. It's practically brand-new! He covered less that 10 miles on it. It's pretty standard spec apart from the addition of some Bullhorn bars, white handlebar wrap, Cane Creek Crosstop front brake and a 45 tooth BIG ring. I'll post piccies of it as soon as I have my mitts on it.

I'm thinking about flipping the rear wheel and fitting a freewheel. My question is what tooth freewheel should I be looking at fitting to match the 45 ring? I'm hoping to use the Langster to get my fitness back and lose some weight (I know it's in there somewhere!)

Thanks in advance and drinks are on me

  • Gearing is a personal thing that'll depend on your riding style, your fitness level, and where you ride. I'd say try riding it fixed and see how the gearing suits. Its probably cheaper to swap out fixed cogs to experiment than freewheels. Also beware of some of the cheaper freewheels like dicta that have no way to remove them.

  • yo snottyotter,, well keen on polo,, where & when??

  • Free tomorrow? Head over to mhbp.co.uk for details.

  • See you tomorrow :)

  • Nice, sign up to our forum too if you can get past the spam net, if you have trouble let me know and I'll get our mod to let you past. Don't forget beer.

Thanks for the heads up on the likes of Dicta freewheels Dtroll. Once I've got the Langster I'll have a play on it as a fixie and see how it feels. Got a mate who runs a bike shop so hopefully he'll sort me out with a little cheeky discount :)

Beer, Bourbon, Ale, Gin....choose your poison :)

I spend way too much time on the UK KTM forum than my better half is happy with....looking forward to getting to know the LFGSS forum members too. I work as a freelance designer in London at least once a month. I'll try and bring my bike with me if I get a couple of days and get the proper drinkies in :)

  • Hello everyone!

Just signed on to this forum. I am a 26year old student from holland who rides to the university everyday on a koga gentsracer or on a conversion fixed Raleigh. Really nice forum this is, here in holland there isn't really a good fixed gear forum.
I am looking for a new bike, large one, 63cm for a new project. Looking to replace my Raleigh fixed with a better stiffer frame!

    cheers Max

  • Hi, I'm Adrian and been lurking for a bit and decided to join after getting my first fixie. I'm used to singlespeeds as my last few mountain bikes have been set up that way but I just sold my last one and decided to replace it with a road going fixie. So I bought a Charge Plug from eBay that had been really well cared for and have been having a go and love it. Also a BIG thank you to the posts on this forum warning of the cheaper OTP horrors that lurk out there in eBay land - you saved me from making an uninformed purchase! Having been a member of the STW forum for quite a time I know the importance of the search function so I hope I won't be bothering you all with questions that have been asked a thousand times already.
Oh, and I'm based near Horsham in West Sussex.

  • Hi All, London resident, and ride a freshly resprayed 753 single speed - who's structural integrity may be called into question. Looking forward to long summer rides.
See you out there on the road.
