  • That's what I was thinking but the manual for the fork said to use a little on the crown race. Oh well.

What torque setting does everyone use for the seatclamp on a carbon post? Neither Van Nicholas nor Easton specify this in their manuals and the seatpost clamp has no manual. I'm thinking 5Nm and see if it stays put.

Looking at the torque spec on my carbon post into a carbon frame they recommend 5nm, and no more than 6. I set mine at 5nm and it's never slipped, a touch of carbon assembly paste definitely helps, as Sumo says.

  • I went up to Two Wheels Good in Crouch End to buy some carbon paste. They didn't have any for sale but were happy to slap some of theirs on and we torqued it to 5Nm. Went riding yesterday morning and there was no slipping at all.

Next is a new set of wheels.

  • Great build.

Reminds me of building up my VN at the start of this year. They are such lovely bikes.

Nice choice on the wheels too!

  • Stunning build - looks wicked
Nice to meet you on Thursday: When you mentioned a new road bike I'd no idea you were talking about this level of niceness! good work

  • Cheers guys.

The gold Campag wheels are gone! Rolling on some 2nd hand Mavic Aksium Race until I get round to ordering a handbuilt set.

  • pics?

  • It does seem to be crying out for some handbuilts.

    Lovely and shiny.

Having lived with my VN Yukon for a while now it is great to know that it polishes up this well even after a good few years.
