I have now acquired that frame. Does it have a real owner? Really not sure what to do with it. I personally don't want it but I could not resist it when the opportunity came to buying it.

Have not yet measured it but looks about 54cm.

Did anyone see that red Gazelle Champion Mondiale that was locked up for ages near Waitrose on Western Road? It gradually got raped of parts until just the frame was left, then the council came and put the removal notice on it and it went a couple of days later in the night. I was fucking gutted, it was beautiful, but I couldn't crack the lock... Ahem.

I even left a note on it for the guy before it was robbed of everything, saying that if he wanted to sell it ever then I'd have it. He wrote back saying no but thanks. When I wrote back, post-vultures, to enquire if I could have the frame, he never replied.

I hope its gone to a good home and not just been carted off by the council landfill team.

Without sounding like a cock it's his own fault really. It was there for months, he could have done something about it when the front wheel got nicked or when the council put a tag on it.

The bikes go to the YMCA. There's a post from me on here somewhere.

Been to the YM to look for bikes, always a piss poor collection. So the good bikes must get syphoned off. But to where?

There really aren't that many nice bikes that get removed. In the past the charity I used to work for had a reciprocal arrangement with the YMCA and we'd get to cherry pick some of the better bikes for our projects. But really, it's mostly crap.

Apart from YMCA/Council staff syphoning off the odd nice bike, they all go to the YMCA project.

I'd guess the real owner left town a while ago. My friend OCDC (see up) wrote to the guy before it was locked up there (it was left outside somewhere else) asking if he could buy it. I think it goes that the guy wrote back saying it's not for sale. A couple of months later it just sat there getting more and more defiled.

Saw a bearded chap on a rather nice geared Merckx cycling up North Street around 6pm last night. Sweet ride!

spotted loads today, a black dolan, chrome bianchi with rear spok, something with a tri spoke on the front with another bike with 50-60mm front rim, that turkey bloke with the pink rear wheel who cant ride for shit and some other randoms. all on new road today at various times.
